SANTO DOMINGO.- El senador por la provincia Santo Domingo, Antonio Taveras Guzmán, presentó este martes en el Senado dos iniciativas legislativas clave para combatir la infiltración del crimen organizado en la política dominicana. Las propuestas buscan fortalecer el marco jurídico y evitar que organizaciones criminales utilicen los partidos políticos para lavar activos y financiar el terrorismo.
Taveras Guzmán, legislador del Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM), advirtió sobre el creciente número de casos de personas acusadas de narcotráfico y lavado de activos que se han infiltrado en el sistema político. «Hemos visto desfilar por los tribunales personas acusadas de narcotráfico, lavado de activos y vínculos con el crimen organizado que han logrado colarse en nuestro sistema político partidario. Y no son casos aislados: es un patrón que se repite, que se expande y amenaza con convertir la política dominicana en un mercado de intereses criminales”, declaró el senador.
Las iniciativas legislativas, identificadas con los números 01253 y 01254, proponen incluir a los partidos, movimientos y agrupaciones políticas reconocidos por la Junta Central Electoral (JCE) como sujetos obligados no financieros, en materia de prevención del lavado de activos y del financiamiento del terrorismo, conforme a lo establecido por la Ley 155-17. Además, buscan establecer responsabilidad para las organizaciones políticas reconocidas por la JCE, según lo previsto en la Ley 74-25, que instituye el Código Penal de la República Dominicana.
Taveras Guzmán enfatizó el grave daño que la entrada de recursos ilícitos causa a la democracia. “Cuando el dinero sucio entra en la política, la democracia se prostituye. Los partidos dejan de ser instrumentos del bien común para convertirse en vehículos del crimen”, afirmó.
El senador reiteró su compromiso con la transparencia, el fortalecimiento institucional y la integridad del sistema político dominicano, en línea con las recientes declaraciones del Presidente del PRM, José Ignacio Paliza, sobre la necesidad de que los partidos cierren la puerta al narcotráfico.
