Un sismo de magnitud 4,5 se registra frente a la costa de Ecuador
QUITO.– Un sismo de magnitud 4,5 se registró este lunes frente a las costas de Ecuador, sin que hasta el momento se reporten daños personales ni materiales, según reportó el Instituto Geofísico (IG) de la Escuela Politécnica Nacional.
El temblor ocurrió a las 13:25 hora local (18:25 GMT) y su epicentro se situó 346 kilómetros al oeste de Manta, capital de la costera provincia de Manabí.
La profundidad a la que se originó este movimiento telúrico no fue precisada dentro del reporte del IG.
Ecuador se encuentra situado en el denominado Cinturón de Fuego del Pacífico, un anillo que abarca ambos lados de este océano y que concentra el 85 % de la actividad sísmica mundial.
