Abinader anuncia RD es propuesta por consenso para presidir la Asamblea Mundial de la Salud

SANTO DOMINGO.- El presidente Luis Abinader anunció este viernes que la República Dominicana ha sido propuesta por consenso de todos los países de las Américas para asumir, por primera vez en su historia, la presidencia de la Asamblea Mundial de la Salud, órgano supremo de la Organización Mundial de la Salud.
«Este hecho histórico es fruto del trabajo técnico, serio y transformador que ha venido impulsando el Ministerio de Salud Pública, posicionando a nuestro país como un referente regional y una voz respetada en los grandes temas de salud global», externó el primer mandatario.
En su discurso de rendición de cuentas también dijo que el país fue distinguido también como «País Champion» en la respuesta regional frente al VIH y otras infecciones de transmisión sexual, por los avances en prevención combinada y acceso gratuito al tratamiento.
Igualmente, en la Iniciativa Regional para la Eliminación de la Malaria, superamos el 80% de cumplimiento en los indicadores establecidos, alcanzando la calificación más alta de Mesoamérica y el Caribe y accediendo al 100% del incentivo por desempeño del BID.
«Estos reconocimientos no son trofeos simbólicos. Son evidencia concreta de que cuando se trabaja con planificación, ciencia y compromiso humano, la República Dominicana no solo avanza: se convierte en referente regional en salud pública», afirmó Luis abinader.
