Apple retira WhatsApp y Telegram de su tienda en China
REDACCIÓN.- A petición de las autoridades locales, el gigante tecnológico estadounidense Apple sacó de su tienda digital en China, las aplicaciones WhatsApp, Threads, Telegram y Signal, informó este viernes el diario norteamericano The Wall Street Journal.
Alegando “motivos de seguridad nacional”, la administración del ciberespacio del país le pidió a la empresa tecnológica no ofrecer la posibilidad de descargar las aplicaciones desde territorio chino.
«Estamos obligados a seguir las leyes de los países donde operamos, incluso cuando no estamos de acuerdo» declaró un portavoz de Apple.
La eliminación de las aplicaciones para ser descargadas desde territorio local viene porque el gobierno chino había informado que los desarrolladores de aplicaciones móviles, teniendo marzo de 2024 como fecha límite, debían registrarlas ante los reguladores nacionales, y en caso de no someterse a la norma, las aplicaciones serían eliminadas.
De acuerdo con Sensor Tower, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube y WhatsApp totalizaron más de 170 millones de descargas en los últimos diez años en China, pero recientemente el gobierno ha empezado a aplicar restricciones contra las aplicaciones que no son desarrolladas localmente.
