César Valdez.
SANTO DOMINGO.- El derecho abridor César Valdez tiró cinco sólidas entradas de una carrera para que los Tigres del Licey consiguieran la noche del miércoles una importante victoria 6-1 sobre los Gigantes del Cibao, en partido celebrado en el estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal, en la continuación del Torneo de Béisbol Invernal.
Con su triunfo, los bengaleses empatan la tercera posición precisamente con los francomacorisanos con igual récord de 17-21.
En su labor completa, Valdez (2-0) permitió cuatro imparables con cuatro ponches. Perdió Alberto Pacheco (0-1) al ceder tres carreras.
El Licey aseguró el partido en la segunda entrada aprovechando la mala defensa contraria y el descontrol de sus serpentineros.
Por los azules también lanzaron Enyel De Los Santos en el sexto, Luis Frías (7), Wander Suero (8) y Jean Carlos Mejía en el noveno.
Por los Tigres, Mel Rojas ligó dos hits, Sergio Alcántara un hit remolcador de dos vueltas, Cal Stevenson y Michael De La Cruz un hit.
Los Tigres tomaron el control del juego 3-0 en la baja de la segunda entrada ante el abridor Alberto Pacheco.

Licey despegó en el cierre del episodio al marcar tres vueltas por sencillo remolcador de dos carreras de Alcántara y error del campo corto en batazo de Núñez.
