Empresarios RD expresan su «compromiso» con X Cumbre
SANTO DOMINGO.- El Consejo Nacional de la Empresa Privada (Conep) expresó este martes su respaldo a la decisión de lla República Dominicana de postergar para 2026 la X Cumbre de las Américas programada para el 4 y el 5 de diciembre en la turística Punta Cana, y que estaba precedida por la V Cumbre Empresarial de las Américas, el 3 y el 4 de ese mismo mes.
En un comunicado, el gremio empresarial dijo respaldar la decisión «en atención a las circunstancias geopolíticas actuales», al tiempo que reiteró su compromisos con los objetivos que inspiran esta iniciativa: «promover la inversión, la innovación, la sostenibilidad y la integración económica del hemisferio».
La Cancillería dominicana anunció ayer que pospone para 2026 la X Cumbre de las Américas, que se celebraría entre el 4 y el 5 de diciembre próximo, después «de un cuidadoso análisis de la situación en la región».
«En el año 2022, al momento de asumir la responsabilidad de realizar la Cumbre de las Américas, eran imprevisibles las profundas divergencias que actualmente dificultan un diálogo productivo en las Américas. A esta situación se suma el impacto causado por los recientes eventos climáticos que han afectado gravemente a varios países del Caribe», explicó la Cancillería en un comunicado.
El anuncio del Gobierno dominicano, el pasado 30 de septiembre, de no invitar a Cuba, Nicaragua y Venezuela, a fin de favorecer «la mayor convocatoria y asegurar el desarrollo del foro», generó críticas y la decisión de la presidenta de México, Claudia Sheinbaum, y de su homólogo de Colombia, Gustavo Petro, de no asistir a la cita.
