Especialistas y autoridades destacan restauración del Alcázar de Colón.
SANTO DOMINGO.– La restauración del Alcázar de Colón fue presentada este viernes como una de las intervenciones patrimoniales más importantes realizadas en la Ciudad Colonial, al reunir esfuerzos para conservar la estructura del monumento, modernizar sus instalaciones y preparar una nueva propuesta museográfica para el público.
Durante el acto, el ministro de Turismo, David Collado, resaltó que la obra representa un momento histórico, al señalar que la infraestructura del Palacio Virreinal de Don Diego Colón no era objeto de una restauración integral desde 1956.
El funcionario explicó que los trabajos fueron ejecutados mediante un proceso de licitación del Ministerio de Turismo con una inversión de RD$100 millones, y sostuvo que este tipo de proyectos contribuyen a preservar el patrimonio histórico del país y fortalecer la oferta turística de la Ciudad Colonial.
Por su parte, el director nacional de Patrimonio Monumental del Ministerio de Turismo, Juan Mubarak, indicó que la intervención permitió consolidar la estructura del edificio y adecuarlo para responder a las necesidades de un museo moderno.
Explicó que el Alcázar de Colón fue equipado con nuevos sistemas de climatización, electricidad, control de temperatura y otras instalaciones técnicas que garantizarán la conservación de las colecciones y una mejor experiencia para los visitantes.
Mientras, el coordinador de proyectos museográficos del Programa Integral de Desarrollo Turístico y Urbano de la Ciudad Colonial, Alexis Cordones, precisó que la entrega corresponde a la culminación de la restauración arquitectónica del inmueble y que la siguiente etapa será la instalación del proyecto museográfico.
Cordones explicó que el museo incorporará colecciones, piezas históricas, audiovisuales, imágenes y otros recursos interpretativos que permitirán renovar la experiencia de los visitantes. Asimismo, recordó que antes de la intervención el edificio presentaba deficiencias en áreas como climatización, videovigilancia y control ambiental, aspectos que fueron corregidos durante la restauración.
En tanto, el presidente del Clúster Turístico de Santo Domingo, Juan Manuel Martín de Oliva, afirmó que la obra representa un compromiso con la preservación de la historia y la identidad cultural del país.
Sostuvo que mantener en óptimas condiciones edificaciones emblemáticas como el Alcázar de Colón fortalece la imagen de la Ciudad Colonial como destino turístico y transmite a los visitantes el valor que la sociedad dominicana otorga a su patrimonio.
