Indotel e Index impulsan campaña alfabetización digital y educación financiera para envío de remesas en Orlando

ORLANDO.- El Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (Indotel) y el Instituto de Dominicanos y Dominicanas en el Exterior (Index) continuaron impulsando en la ciudad de Orlando la implementación de la campaña de alfabetización digital y educación financiera, durante un encuentro con representantes de la prensa y de la comunidad dominicana, orientado a promover el uso seguro de herramientas digitales y el envío responsable de remesas por canales digitales.
Durante el encuentro, el presidente del Consejo Directivo del Indotel, Guido Gómez Mazara, subrayó la importancia de consolidar las capacidades digitales de los dominicanos residentes en el exterior, al afirmar que “la alfabetización digital es clave para que nuestros ciudadanos puedan desenvolverse con mayor seguridad en entornos tecnológicos cada vez más complejos, y esta iniciativa permitirá llevar formación clara y accesible a la diáspora dominicana”.
Por su lado, la directora ejecutiva del Index y viceministra de Relaciones Exteriores para las Comunidades Dominicanas en el Exterior, embajadora Celinés Toribio, destacó la dimensión humana y social de la campaña al señalar que “cuando hablamos de remesas, no hablamos solo de dinero; hablamos de familias, de sacrificio y de vínculos que no se rompen. Por eso me honra reconocer la visión de Estado del excelentísimo señor presidente Luis Abinader y del ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Roberto Álvarez, quienes han colocado a la diáspora en el centro de la política exterior dominicana”.

El cónsul general de la República Dominicana en Orlando, Antonio Rosario Pimentel, valoró la iniciativa como una herramienta de acompañamiento institucional a la comunidad dominicana residente en esa jurisdicción, al expresar que “la educación digital empodera a nuestra comunidad y fortalece el vínculo entre el Estado dominicano y sus ciudadanos fuera del país”.
La actividad, celebrada en el Consulado General de República Dominicana en Orlando, forma parte del despliegue internacional de esta iniciativa, que busca fortalecer la inclusión digital y la protección financiera de la diáspora dominicana mediante el acceso a información confiable, formación práctica y herramientas que contribuyan a una mejor toma de decisiones en entornos tecnológicos. La jornada se desarrolla en articulación con actores del ecosistema financiero y tecnológico, incluyendo el acompañamiento de la Asociación de Bancos Múltiples de la República Dominicana (ABA).
Como parte de la jornada, se presentaron materiales audiovisuales y contenidos informativos diseñados para orientar a la diáspora sobre el uso seguro de plataformas digitales y los mecanismos disponibles para el envío de remesas por canales formales, contribuyendo así a reducir riesgos asociados a fraudes electrónicos y malas prácticas financieras.
El encuentro concluyó con un intercambio abierto con los medios de comunicación, reafirmando el compromiso de Index e Indotel de continuar desarrollando acciones conjuntas orientadas a generar un impacto tangible y sostenible en las comunidades dominicanas en el exterior.
