Jefe Pentágono dice que han cambiado el régimen en Irán

WASHINGTON.- El secretario de Guerra de Estados Unidos, Pete Hegseth, dijo que los ataques contra Irán «no son una guerra de cambio de régimen, pero con seguridad el régimen ha cambiado y el mundo es mejor por eso».
Hegseth indicó que la operación ‘Furia Épica’, iniciada el sábado y saldada con la muerte del líder supremo, el ayatolá Alí Jameneí, es la «más letal, más compleja y más precisa de la historia».
«Esta no es una guerra de cambio de régimen, pero con seguridad el régimen ha cambiado y el mundo es mejor por eso», agregó el jefe del Pentágono en rueda de prensa.
Insistió en que los ataques son realizados «con precisión, de forma abrumadora», y agregó que a medida que avanza el conflicto, las capacidades de EE.UU. «se fortalecen y las de Irán se debilitan».
«Nosotros marcamos los términos de esta guerra de principio a fin. Nuestras ambiciones no son utópicas. Son realistas», advirtió Hegseth, quien reiteró que Trump y su Gabinete «se desvivieron» por conseguir una salida diplomática, pero que Teherán daba largas para «ganar tiempo para recargar sus arsenales de misiles».
«Esto no es Irak. Esto no es interminable. (…) Esto es todo lo contrario. Esta operación es una misión clara, devastadora y decisiva: destruir la amenaza de los misiles, destruir la Armada, nada de armas nucleares», dijo Hegseth.
OPERACIONES EN IRAN «LLEVARAN TIEMPO»
En la misma rueda de prensa, el jefe del Estado Mayor Conjunto de EE.UU., Dan Caine, aseguró que las operaciones militares contra Irán «llevarán algo de tiempo» para alcanzar los objetivos, requerirán «trabajo penoso» y esperan nuevas bajas entre sus tropas.
«Esta no es una operación de un día. Costará algo de tiempo alcanzar los objetivos del Comando Central y la fuerza conjunta que han sido asignados. En algunos casos requerirá trabajo difícil y duro. Esperamos asumir nuevas pérdidas, pero como siempre trabajaremos para minimizarlas», indicó en una rueda de prensa en el Pentágono.
Caine aseguró que el operativo está «escalando» después de 57 horas continuadas de operaciones militares que, dijo, son parte de la «fase inicial» y que requerirán el envío de nuevas tropas en el futuro.
«Este despliegue incluye miles de tropas de todas las ramas de las Fuerzas Armadas, centenares de cazas avanzados de cuarta y quinta generación, decenas de aviones de reabastecimiento y las escuadras de ataque de los portaaviones Ford y Lincoln y sus componentes aéreos», detalló Caine.
Estados Unidos confirmó este lunes que un cuarto militar murió a causa de las heridas recibidas durante los «ataques iniciales» de la operación ‘Furia Épica’, lanzada para acabar con el régimen iraní.
