Lucha suma un oro y tres bronce para RD en Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe

SANTO DOMINGO.- Christopher Foca ganó el oro, mientras que Luis Pérez, Elison Adames y Julio Rodríguez se alzaron con un bronce cada uno en el primer día del torneo de lucha en la modalidad estilo libre de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe Santo Domingo 2026.
Foca se coronó campeón al vencer en la final por 5-0 a Kevin de León, de México, en combate de los 86 kilos masculinos. En el primer combate, Foca derrotó 5-0, por abandono, a Ethan Ramos, de Puerto Rico, y en el segundo pleito despachó por puntos 4-0 al mexicano Kevin de León, y en los cuartos de final doblegó 10-0 a Nathan Pond, de Barbados. En la semifinal, el dominicano le ganó 5-4 a Lázaro Hernández, de Cuba.
Luis Pérez, bronce
El veterano Luis Pérez se hizo del bronce al imponerse por 12-1 ante Steven Burrel Jr, de Jamaica, en el pleito por la disputa del tercer lugar de la categoría 97 kilos estilo libre. En el primer combate, Pérez superó por superioridad técnica (11-0) al jamaiquino Burrel Jr.
En la segunda pelea, Luis Pérez venció a Juan Iturriza, de México, 5-0 por caída, y luego derrotó 8-6 a Lorenzo Pellot, de Puerto Rico, y en la semifinal fue derrotado 1-11 por el colombiano Carlos Izquierdo.
Elison Adames, bronce
El peleador Elison Adames conquistó el bronce al superar 14-10 al mexicano Leonardo Guerrero en el pleito de los 125 kilos por el tercer peldaño. En el primer combate, Adames perdió 3-4 ante José Díaz, de Venezuela, quien ganó el oro, al vencer 3-1 al puertorriqueño Jonovan Smith. El otro bronce correspondió al cubano Yosenky Castañeda.
Julio Rodríguez, bronce
En los 74 kilos, Julio Rodríguez consiguió el metal de bronce al doblegar por superioridad técnica (10-0) a Kevin Alemán, de El Salvador. En los cuartos de final, Rodríguez venció 10-0, superioridad técnica, a Wilfredo Samaniego, de Panamá, y luego perdió 3-9 ante Geannis Garzon, de Cuba.
