SANTO DOMINGO. – El gobernador del Banco Central, Héctor Valdez Albizu, expuso a representantes de la Unión Europea (UE) que República Dominicana tiene en estos momentos “sólidos fundamentos” reflejados en la estabilidad de su sistema financiero, una posición externa y fiscal estable, un marco de política monetaria creíble y unas expectativas de inflación ancladas.
Los delegados de la UE se reunieron con el Gobernador en su despacho. Son ellos el embajador Raúl Fuentes Milani así como Damián Kaminski, jefe de la Sección Comercial y Mariana Ruiz, jefa de representación para el Caribe del Banco Europeo de Inversiones.
Inversión extranjera directa
Tras destacar que República Dominicana es un país “en el que se puede apostar”, Valdez Albizu agregó que con respecto a la inversión extranjera directa (IED) esta nación alcanzó los US$5,032.3 millones al cierre de 2025, con un aumento de US$509.1 millones (11.3 %) en comparación con el año 2024.
Estos flujos evidencian la resiliencia del país en la captación de IED, incluso “en un entorno internacional marcado por la incertidumbre”, dijo.
ingresos en divisas
Señaló que “según cifras preliminares, los ingresos de divisas generados por concepto de IED, remesas, turismo, exportaciones de bienes y de otros servicios superaron los US$47,300 millones en 2025, lo que implica un aumento de unos US$3,400 millones respecto al 2024, lo que contribuye con la estabilidad relativa del tipo de cambio”.
Inflación interanual
Agregó que en un contexto de estabilidad de los precios, la inflación interanual se ubicó en 4.95 %, permaneciendo dentro del rango meta del programa monetario establecido por el BCRD de 4.0 % ± 1.0 % por 32 meses consecutivos.
Proyección de crecimiento económico
Valdez Albizu explicó que el crecimiento económico dominicano se ubicaría en torno a 4.0 % para 2026 gracias a un incremento en la demanda interna sustentado en una inversión pública creciente y en la transmisión continua de las medidas monetarias adoptadas el pasado año.
Dijo que adicionalmente, República Dominicana se beneficiará de términos de intercambio más favorables, caracterizados por altos precios del oro y precios del petróleo relativamente bajos”.
UE reconoce “excelente comportamiento”
Por su parte, el embajador Fuentes Milani destacó el “excelente comportamiento de la economía dominicana y sus logros, conformándose en un lugar de liderazgo como destino de inversión, resaltando las inversiones en turismo de España de manera particular, y que los países de la Unión Europea son socios confiables para la República Dominicana en estos tiempos de incertidumbre”.
Elogió la labor del BCRD en el mantenimiento de la estabilidad macroeconómica por tantos años en el país.

Durante la reunión el Gobernador estuvo acompañado de la vicegobernadora, Clarissa de la Rocha de Torres; el gerente, Ervin Novas Bello; y el subgerente de Políticas Monetaria,Cambiaria y Financiera, Joel Tejeda Comprés.
