Tormenta nieve afecta vuelos salen de RD a Estados Unidos
SANTO DOMINGO.– La tormenta nieve que afecta la costa noreste de los Estados Unidos ha provocado la suspensión de decenas de vuelos desde la República hacia Nueva York, Nueva Jersey y Boston.
Un comunicado de las autoridades en el Aeropuerto Las Américas José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA) informa que la mayoría de las suspensiones corresponde a la aerolínea JetBlue, con un total de 24 vuelos cancelados, mientras que al menos un vuelo de Delta Airlines también resultó afectado por las condiciones meteorológicas adversas.
La situación ha generado un notable congestionamiento y escenas de incertidumbre en el AILA, donde decenas de pasajeros permanecen varados a la espera de reprogramaciones, opciones alternativas o información oficial por parte de las aerolíneas.
Un panorama similar se registra en los aeropuertos internacionales John F. Kennedy (JFK) y Newark Liberty, donde numerosos viajeros no han podido abordar vuelos con destino a la República Dominicana y otros puntos del Caribe.
Las cancelaciones afectan a dominicanos residentes en Estados Unidos que tenían previsto viajar al país para celebrar el fin de año con sus familiares, así como a quienes, tras pasar la Nochebuena en territorio dominicano, planeaban retornar a sus compromisos laborales en suelo estadounidense.
