RD recibió más de 11.6 millones de visitantes en 2025 y marca un nuevo récord histórico del turismo

SANTO DOMINGO.- República Dominicana cerró el año 2025 con la llegada de 11,676,901 visitantes, la cifra más alta registrada en la historia del turismo nacional, lo que representa un crecimiento de 4.3% respecto a 2024, 13.3% en comparación con 2023 y más de 60% frente a 2019, año prepandemia.
Así lo informó el ministro de Turismo, David Collado, quien además, destacó que del total de visitantes, 8,861,169 millones arribaron por vía aérea, el mejor desempeño anual alcanzado por el país, mientras que 2,815,732 millones llegaron en cruceros, consolidando también un récord histórico.
Collado resaltó que estos resultados se lograron pese a un entorno internacional complejo, marcado por conflictos geopolíticos, inflación y la desaceleración de viajes desde mercados tradicionales.
“El turismo dominicano depende en más de un 50% del mercado estadounidense, y aun así logramos cerrar el año con números positivos, recuperando ese mercado en el último trimestre y creciendo a doble dígito en noviembre y diciembre”, afirmó el funcionario.
Mejor cifra del año
Uno de los hitos más relevantes del año fue diciembre de 2025, cuando el país recibió 1,392,649 visitantes, un incremento de 14.2% con relación a diciembre de 2024, convirtiéndose en el mejor mes en la historia del turismo dominicano, según Collado.
Además, el ministro celebró que se estableció un récord diario con la llegada de más de 42,000 turistas en un solo día, siendo el 20 de diciembre la fecha que se estableció esta marca.
El ministro resaltó la diversificación de mercados como una de las claves del crecimiento. América del Sur fue la región de mayor expansión, encabezada por Argentina, que aportó más de 169,000 visitantes adicionales, seguida de Colombia, Perú, Brasil y México, este último con un crecimiento cercano al 40%.
En conjunto, dijo que los mercados del Cono Sur compensaron la baja registrada en algunos países europeos.
Collado también subrayó el rol de la diáspora dominicana, que aportó cerca del 30% del incremento total, con 1.5 millones de dominicanos no residentes visitando el país durante 2025.
En cuanto a infraestructura, Collado explicó que el Aeropuerto Internacional de Punta Cana concentró el 61% de las llegadas aéreas y mostró un crecimiento del 8%, mientras que el turismo de cruceros permitió que la República Dominicana se posicionara como el tercer destino más importante del Caribe, tras Bahamas y Cozumel.
El ministro reiteró que estos logros son el resultado de una alianza sólida entre el sector público y privado, y reafirmó su compromiso de continuar ofreciendo informes periódicos y transparentes sobre el desempeño del turismo, con el objetivo de seguir fortaleciendo la marca país y la confianza de los inversionistas.
