Parientes de víctimas del Jet Set claman justicia tras primera navidad marcada por ausencias

SANTO DOMINGO.- Las velas, fotos y flores volvieron a adornar las inmediaciones del Jet Set; parientes de los fallecidos colocaron recuerdos que, entre sollozos, buscan consuelo y respuestas a nueve meses de la tragedia que enlutó al país.
Al ser consultados por la prensa sobre la primera Navidad con sillas vacías, algunos parientes indicaron que es “duramente difícil” y que esperan una justicia digna.
“Voy a confiar en la justicia dominicana, las leyes están ahí. En este caso hay muchos elementos de juicio. Es muy difícil… La hemos pasado difícil tratando de llevar la vida”, indicó Frank quien dijo que perdió a su nuera en el desplome.
Altagracia Figuereo, madre de una joven fallecida, manifestó que espera claridad en el caso y que la muerte de su hija y la muchas personas no queden impunes.
“Yo espero en Dios, no sé si vamos a obtener condena, para mí en este país no hay justicia, si hubiera otro gallo cantaría”, concluyó.
La mañana de este jueves, la Iglesia católica independiente realizó una misa para honrar la memoria de los fallecidos y continuar exigiendo que el hecho no quede impune.
El próximo lunes 12 del presente mes inicia la audiencia preliminar contra los propietarios del establecimiento, Antonio y Maribel Espaillat, imputados por su presunta responsabilidad en el derrumbe que enlutó a cientos de familias dominicanas.
En el establecimiento fallecieron 236 personas, más de 180 lesionadas y decenas de huérfanos.
