WISCONSIN.- La República Dominicana dejó una huella histórica en la feria EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026, considerada el mayor espectáculo de aviación del mundo, donde presentó sus avances en aviación general y exhibió el avión experimental Van’s RV-8, construido y certificado en territorio dominicano.
El evento, celebrado del 20 al 26 de julio en Oshkosh, Wisconsin, contó con un pabellón instalado por el Departamento Aeroportuario (DA) junto al Ministerio de Turismo, desde donde se promovieron las facilidades del país para pilotos y visitantes interesados en el turismo aeronáutico.
La delegación dominicana mostró las condiciones de sus aeropuertos para la aviación privada no comercial, incluyendo servicios de recepción, despacho, información y asistencia a pasajeros y tripulaciones establecidos en el Protocolo para la Aviación Privada No Comercial.
Durante la jornada también se rindió homenaje al piloto Franklin Polanco, reconocido por el subdirector del DA, Luis Cabrera, como uno de los principales impulsores de la aviación moderna dominicana.
PRIMER VAN’S RV-8 CONSTRUIDO EN REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA
Uno de los principales atractivos de la participación dominicana fue el avión experimental Van’s RV-8, desarrollado por los aviadores Carlos Sanlley, Alejandro Marranzini y Andrés Sánchez.
La aeronave se convirtió en el primer Van’s construido en el país y el segundo avión experimental dominicano en realizar un vuelo internacional, tras completar un recorrido hasta Oshkosh enfrentando desafíos climáticos y logísticos.
Sanlley explicó que el proyecto tomó cinco años desde su concepción hasta los primeros vuelos y destacó que la construcción del avión implicó mucho más que ensamblar piezas, ya que requirió fabricar y adaptar componentes siguiendo especificaciones técnicas.
“Fue el primer RV-8 y el primer avión de Van que se construyó en la República Dominicana”, afirmó.
La presencia dominicana en AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 reafirma el crecimiento de la aviación experimental y general en el país, en un encuentro que reunió a pilotos, fabricantes, estudiantes y aficionados de todo el mundo.
