Speedy González volverá a la pantalla con una nueva película impulsada por Warner Bros
Warner Bros presenta una nueva película de Speedy González para su regreso a la pantalla.
REDACCION INTERNACIONAL.– Más de 70 años después de aparecer por primera vez en un corto de animación y tras 15 años de idas y vueltas, Warner Bros por fin llevará el personaje de Speedy Gonzales a la pantalla en una película dirigida por el mexicano Jorge R. Gutiérrez.
Con un expresivo «Ándale, ándale! Arriba, arriba!», la frase en español que el personaje popularizó en los famosos cortos animados de Looney Tunes, Gutiérrez confirmó la noticia después de que en diciembre publicara una foto sosteniendo un muñeco de Speedy junto a la frase: «Adivinad qué película podría estar desarrollando en Warner Brother Pictures Animation».

De momento no hay más detalles de la que será la primera adaptación al cine de las aventuras del «ratón más rápido de todo México», como lo publicitaba Warner desde su primera aparición en un corto en 1955.
El personaje había surgido un par de años antes en el corto ‘Cat-Tails For Two’, pero con un aspecto diferente, con un diento de oro de gran tamaño y una camiseta roja. Además era considerablemente más delgado y los colores que se usaron eran más oscuros.
Fue en 1955 el director Friz Freleng y el animador Hawley Pratt rediseñaron el personaje para el ‘Speedy Gonzales’, que ganó el Óscar a mejor cortometraje de animación.
En ese corto se presentó a otro de los personajes más conocidos de los Looney Tunes, el gato Silvestre (a quien Speedy llamaba ‘El Gringo Pussygato’), que trata de proteger una fábrica de queso de las incursiones del ratón, que se convirtió inmediatamente en su principal enemigo.
Ya desde ese primer corto se estableció el grito de guerra de Gonzales: «¡Ándale, ándale! ¡Arriba, arriba! ¡Yepa!».
El pequeño ratón, con su pañuelo rojo al cuello y su sombrero mexicano, se convirtió en uno de los personajes más populares de los Looney Tunes, que agrupaba a otros mitos animados como Bugs Bunny, el pato Lucas, Correcaminos, Porky o Piolín.
Polémicas y reacciones sobre Speedy Gonzales
Unos cortos animados que comenzaron a emitirse en 1930 y que se mantuvieron en los cines hasta 1969, con posteriores incursiones en largometrajes o series televisivas que trataron de recuperar el espíritu original de esta saga.

Pero el personaje de Speedy Gonzales se puso en entredicho y en 1999 se dejaron de emitir sus aventuras para no fomentar «estereotipos étnicos», como reconoció la portavoz de Cartoon Network, Laurie Goldberg.
El canal consideraba que Gonzales representaba un estereotipo ofensivo para los mexicanos, «además de ser un mal ejemplo para los niños porque sus amigos fumaban y bebían».
Detalles confirmados sobre la nueva película
Pero grupos hispanos comenzaron una intensa campaña para recuperar el personaje y aseguraban no sentirse ofendidos por Gonzales. El tema abrió un debate nacional en Estados Unidos y en 2002 el ratón volvió a aparecer en televisión.
Y aunque desde entonces los personajes de los Looney Tunes no han tenido la popularidad de antaño, nunca se han dejado de emitir y las nuevas generaciones también conocen a Speedy Gonzales y sus amigos, aunque no con la intensidad de años atrás
Y ahora se recupera a lo grande el personaje
Algo que ahora podría cambiar con el nuevo largometraje que prepara Warner Bros, con la dirección de Gutiérrez, responsable de títulos como ‘The Book of Life’ (‘El libro de la vida’, 2014).
Han pasado 15 años desde que Warner anunció su intención de hacer una película que mezclaba animación y acción real, protagonizada por el ratón, que iba a tener la voz de George López, pero el proyecto no cuajó.
En 2016 se anunció que sería Eugenio Derbez el encargado de prestarle su voz a Gonzales, pero aquella idea tampoco se concretó.
Ahora será Gutiérrez el que lleve los mandos de la película, de la que no se conoce nada, salvo el entusiasmo de los seguidores del ratón, que han expresado en las redes su emoción por recuperar el ‘¡Ándale, ándale! ¡Arriba, arriba!’.
