HIGÜEY.- El obispo de la diócesis Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, Jesús Castro Marte, manifestó este miércoles que los empleados públicos están en la obligación de servir al país y no son designados para «lucrarse de los recursos del Estado».

Al presidir la eucaristía por el día de la Virgen de la Altagracia en la Basílica de esta ciudad del este de la República Dominicana, recordó a quienes están al servicio público que su misión es procurar el bien común y servir a los más débiles que necesitan la protección del Estado de derecho.

“Los servidores públicos son para servir al país, no para buscar lucro de ningún tipo, esto vale también para los profesionales de todas las ramas, el sector privado, clase empresarial y nosotros mismos, que como iglesia inserta en la realidad de nuestro tiempo hemos de dar testimonios con palabras y con hechos”, dijo.

DEBEN OBRAR CON TRANSPARENCIA Y PULCRITUD

Castro Marte enfocó su homilía en el servicio, enfatizando que los servidores públicos deben obrar con transparencia y pulcritud en el manejo del patrimonio, aplicando la ley y orden con rectitud y respeto de los derechos humanos.

Fue reiterativo en señalar la búsqueda del bien grupal y no de personas individuales, procurando abrir caminos pendientes de luchas para disminuir la pobreza y cortar brechas entre ricos y pobres.

A LOS PIES DE LA VIRGEN ROGAR POR BENDICION ESPECIAL

“Fijando el horizonte en nuestras acciones como hombres y mujeres en el bienestar público, en el bien de la nación y no en interés particular de personas o de grupos, a los pies de la virgen rogamos al todo poderoso se fortalezca una bendición muy especial», señaló.

Agregó que esto así para abrir caminos pendientes a una lucha constante por disminuir la pobreza en muchas personas y hermanos pobres, acortando la brecha existente entre ricos y pobres, entre la opulencia y la periferia existencial.

Además de los servidores públicos, su llamado se extendió hacia el sector empresarial y empleador, pidiéndoles recordar su vocación social y garantizar a los empleados protecciones sociales mínimas que contempla la ley, como es un salario justo.

Aunque estaba previsto que el presidente Luis Abinader asistiera a este acto religioso, no pudo estar presente debido a que, según su esposa, Raquel Arbaje, está aquejado de gripe desde el martes. En su lugar estuvo esta última así como la vicepresidenta de la República, Raquel Peña; el expresidente Hipólito Mejía, las alcaldesaas del Distrito Nacional e Higuey, Carolina Mejía y Karina Aristy, y otros funcionarios nacionales y locales.
